E1 onto him (or Tiamat) to proc and pop his passive shield, then hold your damage until the shield wears off before you all-in: it blocks CC and heavily reduces damage while up.

Once you chunk him at level 2/3 you can kill him with W, dash or Flash up: abuse your early game and run him down when he's below 50% HP.

Avoid his E

His E (Malefic Visions) spreads its DoT off dying minions: stand away from low-HP minions, and force a trade as soon as he walks up to E the wave.

What should you never do as Renekton vs Malzahar?
